[ Back to essays and letters | Back to Insula Maledictus ] Nihil inimicius quam sibi ipse An announcement to the knowledge of one and all in the Loch Leglean TribunalTo my sorrow it seems once again that when patience and a clear mind is most needed among the magi of Loch Leglean, greed and opportunism rise their ugly heads. Only a few days have passed since the image of Varina visited the covenants and already secret search parties are being sent out, while covenants claim innocense and hide behind vague explanations. It has come to my knowledge that the affair is of much deeper concern and of wider consequences than just the short-sighted rivalry that spreads through the tribunal. The image of Varina has been seen in covenants two thousand miles from Crun Clach. This is sure to bring strangers and treasure-hunters to and cross our borders. The possibility of this being a plot by the Stonehenge Tribunal has not yet been totally abandoned. Therefor I have sent warning to all other tribunals, that the presence of foreign magi will not be tolerated within the borders of Loch Leglean and hereby give permission to capture all magi who carry unrecognised sigils. I tend to keep an eye on Horsingas though, do not take advantage of the situation to justify your confrontations with Norman covenants. An additional tribunal will be held at next full moon at the Crun Clach covenant. We shall discuss the matter of Varina as well as the alarming tidings we hear from the southern borders nearly every week now. I understand the inconveniencce this means to covenants in middle of harvesting, but the issue has to be dealt with in an orderly fashion. Therefor all attempts to find Varinas sanctum are forbidden at least until the tribunal. A wizard’s war may be enforced on covenants who do not obey.
