Thorbrand has only one eye, as he took his own eye out in dedication to Odin. He also has a large beard, which is usually held open, but sometimes tied up or braided. His face is alluring and beautiful, but commands respect and even fear. |

Thorbrand is really, really big. A bit under eight feet and 500 pounds, he will surely stand out in any crowd. His hearty, loud laugh can be heard from far away. His long hair and beard, as well as empty eye socket give him away when in close contact. |

|
He usually wears long trousers, bottoms tucked into knee-high boots, held up with leather straps wound around his shins. He has a baggy shirt, reaching his thighs, which is tied around the waist by a leather belt. A heavy cloak lined with fur is fastened with a brooch on the right shoulder. In cold weather, he wears a bearskin over his shoulders, and claims to have wrestled the bear down himself bare handed. The clothes are decorated with ornaments or embroidery. Brown and walnut are the main colors, with green and blue used in the trim. |

|
Like all skalds, Thorbrand talks with enthusiasm, and uses kennings, poetic and inspiring alternatives for words. His low voice is pleasant to listen to, and when he is telling stories, usually the audience is quiet, gripping their seat tightly. |

|
Thorbrand is good-natured and pleasant, but only when you're on his good side. His sheer size makes him look intimidating, when he wants it, people are scared. He is proud and sure of his abilities, tending to boast somewhat, but not going too far. As a large man, he doesn't move too quickly. He does seem to think that he is descended from Odin, the All-Father. |

|
Sometimes he has told a story of his parents, his father being a gigantic half-troll and his mother a beautiful half-ljossalfar (sidhe). Thorbrand is accompanied by three spirits; his hamingja, a valkyrie named 'Randgrith'; 'Alfgeir', an old man, an ancestor ghost; and a fylgja, raven spirit named 'Kol' he is not yet aware of. The fylgja was a gift from Odin after Thorbrand took out his own eye in dedication to his god. |
