Castrum Moguntiacum, Ager Privatus of Corvus ex Bjornaer

Moguntiacum was a Roman outpost, a precursor to the town of Mainz, and was found by a Roman general Drusus in 13 BC. It was an important military town throughout the Roman times, probably due to its strategic position at the confluence of the Main and the Rhein. Moguntiacum met its end in 406, when germanic tribes attacked it and overwhelmed the Roman forces.

The Cult of Mercury was strong in Moguntiacum, and they built a place of worship next to the Castrum. When the town was sacked, it fell into disrepair. The cruel tribesmen butchered the Cult, and some of them still search the ruins for salvation.

Later, with the introduction of the Dominion, and the help of the Holy See as well as the Archbishop of Mainz, the power of the Cult of Mercury waned. Enveloped by the Dominion, the strong magical aura was forced to find a new place for itself in a regio. The temple is still in disrepair, and is not generally visited by the townsfolk, since some of the daring explorers never returned from their trip.

The regio is really strong here, and visitors need the help of a person, who lives inside the regio, or they won't be able to enter. The front for the Ager Privatus is a goldsmith, where you can get guided into the regio by saying "Pax Hermeticum" - for the memory of the late Treverorum covenant. You will then be escorted into the covenant area.

There are two large buildings here. The first one contains the Sanctum, library and living quarters of Corvus ex Bjornaer, and the other one living quarters, workshops, kitchen and guest quarters. The buildings are surrounded by a garden, which is remarkable. There are trees that bear golden fruits, and many animals are often seen there. Visitors are generally well received in the covenant, but guests are expected to leave after a few days.
