Founded 1220 a.d by the five sons and the adopted son of Christophus ex Bonisagus (Kristoff aus Odenwald) in the Rhine Gorge area, where no covenant has survived over 77 years. Indeed, all the previous covenants in the area have been destroyed exactly 77 years after founding, which is rumored to be result of a curse. A curse by whom, no one knows. Germanitas Rhenus is a typical covenant, composed six "ager privati" along the shores of the Great Rhine, from Mainz to Koblenz. Each magus has his own ager privatus, that is, his own area where he lives and has his sanctum. Each magus has their own set of grogs, private vis sources and private library. Of course, there are common vis sources as well as well as a common covenant charter. This is the most common way that magi live in Europe, bound together by he covenant but having enough privacy in their own ager privati. Only few covenants in Europe are living ogether in he same place, the way Trianoma imagined when she was busy founding the Order of Hermes. Mostly these are the Domus magnas of different houses, like Durenmar in the Black Forest nearby. Two of the magi have settled in magical areas in the old roman towns of Mainz and Bingen, the others are scattered along the river Rhine. Details of ager privati are found in different sections of each magus. |
