Precious(?) moments
Sometimes, while playing, the players do something the storyguide had no way
of expecting. Often they are new approaches to a problem, sometimes foolish
ones, sometimes weird. Sometimes everything goes down the drain. This is a page
devoted to little moments like that.
- Magus version of reconnaissance:
- Go to an area and scout it out, do not get
detected. If detected, withdraw with the information gathered.
How it's done: Everyone goes invisible. One magus sees a few others
she cast a spell on, others don't see anyone else. Nobody can sneak, so they
are quite loud. On top of it all, (at least) one of the enemies has some sort
of extra-sensory perception, and sees the approaching magi miles away.
- Grog & companion version of reconnaissance:
- Go to an area and scout it
out, get detected. Attack an heavily armed superior force, get killed or captured...
Result: one grog dead, three others (companion + 2 grogs) captured.
After first shots are fired, few of the grogs rush in melee, while enemies are
pouring into the battlefield. Last, the archer is seen running into the melee,
yelling "Retreat! Retreat!" to his fellows, only managing to catch arrows
with his own chest in the process.
- Homicidal, invisible redcap:
- "Come back here, you f****ng w***e!" A magi
could have been seen running after the bandit leader, who had just been hit by
Visions of the Infernal Terrors. This crazy redcap wanted to stab the
poor bastard in the ass, while other players silently shook their heads in plain
disgust. During the horrifying act, the player had to rise up from his seat,
visibly shaking in his feeling of superiority.
"Could have been seen"? See the first precious moment.
- Grave Robbing:
- Go rob a grave, suffer horrendous damage from owls, gargoyles and what not,
lose one grog and loot the tomb, heed the warning and leave the corpse of a
powerful dead maga alone. Get obsessed with the corpse, return after 20 years,
fuck things up and start re-looting. Do not heed the warning of the dead maga
concerning the corpse. Molest the corpse and trigger the waiting spell, get
incapacitated. Get healed and reason; "there can't possibly be more than one
charge!" Go back and trigger the trap again by failing an insignifigant dexterity
roll, die.
