Covenant

Covenant's map Calf of Man

In the year of our lord 1170, a group of young magi founded the covenant of Insula Maledictus on the small island Calf of Man. It is a rocky island just south of Isle of Man, in the stormy Irish Sea.

As most of the magi are scottish, the new covenant stayed in the jurisdiction of Loch Leglean Tribunal. This, of course, has risen some difference of opinion in Stonehenge Tribunal, even though there exists a pact which states that the first covenant founded on Isle of Man defines the tribunal it belongs to.

There have been attempts to build a covenant on Man earlier, but they have all had tragic endings. The island is full of dangers; malevolent faeries of the sea, unwellcoming ruling class of norsemen, mysterious drakes, and even demons with infernal plans. Of course, we should not forget the pain-in-the-rectum covenant Whitehaven from north England, which gives trouble from time to time.

The covenfolk and grogs consist mostly of manx peasants and their offspring who have escaped the tyranny of their norse overlords. Some important people include:

  • Brother Bruce, who runs the chapel in the covenant (yes, I know, it's weird)
  • Mael Cais, the "holy" smith of the covenant
  • Seamus the Seafarer, son of Boat-master Angus (deceased) and grog leader Iain.
  • Perry, a mason overseeing the construction of buildings.
  • Knut, a norse warrior we saved on one occasion
  • Caetlin, a mute girl, spouse to Knut, healer
  • There is also a scribe working at the covenant.

Other important people can be found in the history-section.

The young covenant has established good relations with local church, which is not very common for hermetic covenants. The new bishop is english, and this may make things more difficult. They also enjoy a encouraging endorsement in their tribunal. But, as usual for young spring covenants, Insula Maledictus does not get any REAL support from anywhere. They are on their own.
