Salt-separating barrelThis barrel was created by Caligula as his season devoted to the covenant. The barrel is used in the following way: it is filled with sea water, it's lid closed. Then the barrel separates salt from sea water, and destroys the water itself, leaving only salt in the bottom.
Caligula's Muto[Perdo]Aquam -lab total is 22. The barrel is a container for the water inside, and container's form & effect bonus is +5 create or transform within. With Muto or Perdo Aquam - Verditius' runes inscribed on the barrel, Caligula can achieve a lab total of 30. The barrel is to be created as a lesser enchanted device, so the maximum effective level is 15 with a lab total of 30. That leaves two points of room for uses, giving 6 uses per day. The barrel can now be created in one season. A sidenote: when the salinity in sea water is 3,5% and the barrel holds 250 litres of water, one use produces (0,035 x 250 =) 8,75 litres of salt. It weighs 18,9 kgs, or 41,667 lbs. Six uses per day creates then 250,004 lbs salt. If one pound of sea salt costs ½ pennies, one day's worth of salt costs 125 pennies. As a business, this yields 190 pounds, 2 shillings and 1 penny per year. |
