Suppressing the Magical NatureThere's a spell in the Ars Magica 4th Edition, the Phantom Gift. It creates a magical air around a normal, mundane person, making his life hard in the mundane society - quite like the difficulties the gifted magi face. This spell is a Creo Vim level 15 spell. Since it's possible to create a magical aura, it is possible to hide it as well. Therefore it's logical that Perdo Vim spell of the same level would do the trick. Before you all munchkin-killers start lighting your torches, grabbing your pitchforks and heading my way, read this: Consider a magus taking a flaw that leads to horrible looks, Feeble (characteristics), in this case Presence. This flaw is worth 4 points, and lowers your Presence score from -3 to -4. A magus takes this flaw and while selecting spells takes Aura of Ennobled Presence, MuIm10. The spell raises his horrible Presence to 0. Considering the Range (Near) of the Phantom Gift, the level of the Suppress need not be very high. A small reminder, though. While some magi like to deal with the mundanes, others (most of them anyway) do not see need for it. This spell may not be the most useful one there is, but it might come in handy in the times of need. |
