Amulet of Telepathy

Nota Bene! This is the old version of this file. I made a little mistake earlier; the spell effect "speak with any one human" is a bit too much for this item. With that effect the wearer could talk telepathically with any one human. Since we only want to communicate with each other, another effect is a bit better. Check the new plans for this item.

You know how the char that could actually do something is never where he should be? The character cannot tell the right solution to the question because he actually does not know it, altough his player might. Telepathy would be nice, but it is not possible. Yet. That's why we began to think of different solutions, and ended up with this.
 

Possible Form and Effect Bonuses:

Possible item could therefore be a rock crystal hanging from a necklace, or an obsidian stone embedded in a ring.

According to the Guidelines in ArM4, spell effect would be

Intéllego Mentem, level 20:
Speak with any human. Read a person's surface thoughts. Pick a single answer from the mind of a target.
Basic range: Eye, basic duration: Momentary, Basic target: Individual.

Since the item will be created to allow telepathic communication from far away, we need to increase the range from Eye to e.g. Far or Sight. This means an increase of 3 or 4 magnitudes (=> level 35 or 40). And since we want to be able to communicate all the time, we will make the item work Constantly: +5 levels.

The amulet's effect would then be Intéllego Mentem 40 (or 45). They are made in our covenant with aura of 5. I think we won't be seeing any of these items yet, at least if they would be done by me: my lab total in InMe is only 14. With all the bonuses I will reach 14+5+(form and effect bonuses) ~ 28, if I was enchanting a rock crystal hanging from a necklace. This falls far form the target level, so I need to study a lot before I can do anything like that. But if I remember right, we do have a magus in our covenant, who is more capable in the arts of Intéllego Mentem. Maybe we still have some hope :-)
